Club Notes 14th September 2022

Yes

Ladies Football:

The Ladies Footballers will play Fr Murphys in the Junior Championship Final this Saturday in Ruislip at 11.15am. Best of luck to all involved and we encourage all members to get out and show their support.

Underage:

It was the weekend of the ABCs in Greenford and the Macs were well represented across all age groups in Football and Hurling.

It was a great day on Saturday for our U11 girls & boys footballers. They played the same tournament a year ago and the improvement in that time is remarkable.

While on Sunday the Hurling was out in full force. We fielded at four age groups U8, U11, U14 & U17. The U8s played good hurling and won 3 out of 4 of their games. The U11s were slow to start, but by game four they had found their feet and were tackling hard, soloing and playing some fine hurling and managed to keep a strong Erin Go Bragh side to a draw. The U14s were a few players down because of change in playing age at the games, but battled hard and never gave up. The sheer determination of the U14s was impressive to watch. The U17s reached the final again this year and played against Fr. Murphy’s. Mac Curtains controlled the game from the start and took the lead which they kept till the end, and were crowned U17 All Britain Champions 2022, which makes it two in a row for the U17s.

All of the young hurlers and footballers did the club proud all weekend, they were respectful, polite and wore our colours with pride, we could not be more prouder of them.

Congratulations to Jamie Moran, Dara Daly and Fergus O’Sullivan who helped North London Shamrocks beat Gael London 6-16 to 3-01 to win the inaugural London GAA U17 Division 2 Championship.

Men's Football:

A tough loss to KKG last weekend means that the footballers will have to scrap it out in the relegation play off this year as they can not finish higher due to head to head results. The reserve footballes received a walkover from St Joes and are still in contention to qualify for the semi finals.

The footballers are out again this Sunday against St Kiernans in their last group game while the Reserves playing their last group game against NLS looking for a win to qualify for the Semi Finals.

Hurling:

The hurlers lost to Kilburn Gaels in the final round of the league last Sunday. Despite this they are still through to the League Final. Details to be confirmed later. They are out this weekend against Robert Emmetts in the Championship. A win will see them through to the Semi Finals.

Handball:

Training is every Sunday from 12.00pm to 2.00pm in Forest Gate Community School.

Next weekend a number of members will travel to Valencia for a tournament there. We wish them the best of luck.
